    What do you consider too low to target? I have found that depending on the business, even keywords that have what would seem to be a low volume, can still be profitable because you can rank quickly and if the terms are very targeted and specific to your business, you get a high conversion rate. I would say this applies more to new sites who need to start establishing authority.

      I agree in principle that targeting the “low hanging fruit” maybe worthwhile, as you are likely to rank much more easily for these type of keywords.

      However, I think it is also worthwhile to target keywords that have higher search volumes, but are still not ultra competitive. These type of “middle ground” keywords will require a little more effort to rank highly on the search engines, but the rewards will be much greater in terms of traffic volumes.

      The big mistake that I see on a regular basis is companies that have page 1 Google rankings for keywords that have almost zero search volume and do not understand why they do not receive any traffic to their site.
