Link Popularity
Link popularity is basically a measure of the number and quality of inbound links to your website. It refers to the total number of links or “votes” that a search engine has found for your website. It is one of the best ways to measure a websites online awareness and overall visibility. The more sites that link to your site, the more important your site will be regarded by the search engines.
Exchanging reciprocal links with other related sites will help to build your link popularity. Links from similar sites to yours are best. When requesting a link we recommend that you suggest the linking text which would be displayed - getting your keywords in the link further helps your ranking. Usually you would offer a link from your site in return. Link exchanges won't cost you anything, though to get good results often quite a lot of time is invested.
Google has placed a great deal of emphasis on link popularity. Google uses what it calls Page Rank as an indicator of a page’s value. Without a good Google Page Rank score you are unlikely to appear high in the Google search results. Since Google is such an important search engine, it is essential that you strive to obtain good link popularity if you are serious about attracting visitors to your site.
